Presonus also freely provides Studio One Remote for Android/iOS for, yes, remote control and operation. This allows me to layer sounds from different sound sources without having to mess around with a sampler. I do have one other favorite Studio One feature-the ability to stack VST instruments on the same track. There’s a section to create these “Shows” (seen above) and a streamlined interface for actual performance use as shown below. With Show, you define “songs” that encompass “players” that can be anything from mixdowns of songs, to external hardware, to stacked FX used by live performers. Unlike with other DAWs with live capabilities more aimed at performers or DJs, this one seeks to accommodate sound engineers and performers using backing tracks, etc. This is Studio One’s organizational “Show” page.

The changes in one editor are mirrored in the other in real time. You can float the editors as windows, and view the notation as such while the drum or piano roll are docked in the bottom pane. Notion was already pipelined to Studio One for easy exchange of data.

STUDIO ONE PRO UPDATE
Studio One 5.5 is a free update for registered Studio One 5 users and is included in PreSonus Sphere membership. Improvements have also been added for PreSonus ATOM-series controllers with Impact XT and SampleOne XT.
The Plug-in Nap feature introduced in version 5.4 is now available on a per plugin basis, providing more optimization control. Other improvements include saving automation with mix scenes so users can experiment with multiple automation passes without losing work. The PreSonus Ampire XT guitar amp/cabinet/pedalboard plugin, available in Studio One 5.5, adds faster preset switching optimized for the Show Page, so users can trigger Ampire presets from a MIDI pedalboard during a live performance. Users can now create a strum pattern manually by dragging note events in a selected chord while holding modifier keys.
Any MIDI file can now be dragged directly to the Chord Track to extract its chords - and only Studio One’s chord detection works with Audio Events and Instrument Parts. Studio One 5.5 also introduces production and performance features. A new, proprietary, custom-designed dithering algorithm minimizes conversion artifacts and preserves low-level signals when preparing high-resolution audio for streaming. The new Target Loudness options allow target values for loudness and true peak during export, or to choose from presets for every popular streaming service. Further, Studio One Professional’s Digital Release publishing feature now provides the ability to export multiple formats at once so users can export their mastered sessions for high-resolution releases and streaming services at the same time.
